Life’s lessons are the outcomes of undesired situations, thoughts, and habits we’ve given enough attention to establish roots in our experience.
Our life lessons are not always of our choosing. We can’t control the power of memories – especially traumatic ones. We can’t deny pain we’ve experienced when life has felt unjust. And try as we might, we can’t completely shield ourselves from the actions of others.
No matter the cause, it is always our perspective, reactions, and responses to life that we are living. Assigning fault doesn’t change this. Accepting blame doesn’t change this. Justice doesn’t change this. Imagining what could have been different doesn’t change this. We only know what we feel and only control our responses to our feeling experiences.
When at heart we realize we want a different feeling experience, tolerating an active focus on lessons becomes unbearable. Not all of us find our way – the dis-ease of enduring lessons and reliving painful memories causes some to give in or give up on life. Many of us overcome life’s lessons and are eventually inspired to look forward, pursue goals, develop talents, share our vision (and lessons) with others, and actively live our lives. In this way, life lessons are blessings that can awaken us to our purposes and propel us into our potentials.
Still, mastering life’s lessons requires patience and courage as we become clear about the content of undesired thoughts, memories, and habits we’ve come to tolerate and sustain.
May life’s lessons continually serve to remind you of your ability and Divine right to change perspective and alter your course in ways that naturally align with your Soul’s ever-expanding aspirations.
